Plainfield planners support office rezoning Editorial, The Grand Rapids Press, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mar 24, 2005

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP -- The Planning Commission unanimously supported a rezoning request that would allow an office complex on East Beltline Avenue NE.

East Grand Rapids-based Third Coast Development Partners LLC wants 3.47 acres at 4939 East Beltline rezoned from residential to office.

The rezoning might go to the Township Board next month. If that panel approves it, the commission would look at a site plan. That approval would clear the way for a spring start on construction.

Two of the three buildings would be 10,000 square feet and have medical offices; the third would be a 5,000-square-foot bank branch.

A nearby resident raised concerns about traffic and loss of trees. Commission members said they would make sure landscaping screened the site.

Brad Rosely of Third Coast said he talked to many residents and recognized that traffic would be a concern.

Heindrichs said the Kent County Road Commission determines how much traffic Grand River Drive can handle.
